cairo and some misc nlffi comments

FYI.

I just got a cairo ffi and example working.  Actually it's cairo-pdf,  
I'm getting to work on direct to screen version - either X or sdl  
based - soon.

Really nice graphics library, beats the heck out of writing out  
postscript code, which is what I was doing.

I am beginning to acquire quite the collection of very useful ffi's  
(clapack, fftw3, cairo).  I'm going to give sdl another try, and even  
if I can't get it to work under OS X, I'll get it working under x86  
for sure.

No, they are not very polished, but they work and there is enough  
completed that it's very easy to expand on.

I was hoping to convince the powers that be to maybe start up some  
sort of directory in the project for ffi packages ??

Comments ?

The other topic concerning ffi's is the whole problem of having to  
get into the memory allocation business again.  I was reading up on  
weak pointers the other day and I was wondering if that might not  
work as an approach to automatically free malloc'ed objects.  Seems  
like they should work, I was just hoping to get some positive murmurs  
that I am pointed in the right direction.
