musings about tclkit

Hi everyone,

jcw has give us the great opportunity to run the complete
tcl and tk environment with only one file: tclkits.

Now it seems he has abandoned the further development.

After nearly one year maintaining kbskit I'm a little bit concerned.
Which way to go?

1. Let everything as is and try to build as long as the
   existing software works and live with readonly kit files.
2. Using metakit means additional C++ hassles. And there
   seems also no further development.
3. Use the basekit's from ActiveState and hope for progress on
   this side. Are there any plans here?
4. Try to tip the kit feature in tcl/tk (something like tommath
   and now tdbc) as an additional/optional feature. The concrete
   implementation (p.e. sqlite as database) is open for discussion.
   No more concerns about the right tclkit. Everyone can use it.
   But there is still the question about the underlying architecture.
   And what do the TCT think about it? Is it possible?
   It could be a long term process without concerns about compatibility.
Some other possibilities?
