Thank you, Schelte, for the link. I have downloaded and tested the 
macosx-universal version on Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and did not notice so 
far any problems.

Did I understand the kitcreator Wiki right that I have to type just a 
line like './kitcreator 8.5.9 --enable-64bit' into the Mac Terminal in 
order to create a tclkit-8.5.9?

But what if the TK source files are in a local directory because they 
are modified?
