Firtsly, I want to try ANTLR, which can be use for many language. And for personnal reason, I want to be able to read a dump. 

Then, the problem with a database is that it's sometimes difficult to access it, for instance to have the good drivers (I remember to change a driver and to have a different datatypes in metadata object).

Moreover, to have this dump reader doesn't exclude to have a JDBC one's which I agree can be often more interesting.
