Checking out Code

Hi All

I'm trying to check out the latest source code as outlined in the Wiki, and
it is a very slow process! It may be that by following the Developer Wiki I
end up downloading artifacts under the www folder such as pdf's etc..
Unfortunately I have 2Mbps line.

I'd like to check out the code only and  build the code. Can someone please
guide me as to how to do this, I would like to try and assist with bug
fixes.
