I disagree.

I would hope the modal dialog that shows the progress bar can do all the work 
for the save. The fact that we have a modal dialog up should prevent the user 
from interacting with the rest of the aplication including closing the window 
with X.

Laurent says he still sees this defect in 0.28.1 where we have a progress bar on 
popup window and this defect still exists.

In that case I assume the save thread is starting before the pop dialog appears 
or that the dialog is not modal.

The first thing to do I think is get back the progress bar (we still don't know 
why we've lost that) and then see what's left to resolve from there.
