[Issue 6485] can't rename model

We do have 2 independant users reporting this with the same release and both on
Ubuntu. I'm not sure why they are not responding here but I'd like to leave this
open until we at least have added some diagnostics to the app.

It should be possible for us to detect this situation and add to the log some
information such as whether the property panel plugin has been found and if the
configuration file inside that has been found. I assume this problem is because
on of those is missing. With that done and with no response from the OP's then I
think this could be closed as WFM.
