yes, ArgoUML supports sequence diagrams using the menu "Create" / "New 
Sequence Diagram" (there is a corresponding button in the toolbar). I 
have created some in 
"http://argouml.tigris.org/source/browse/*checkout*/argouml/trunk/documentation/cookbook/profile-subsystem.zargo?rev=15362".

Regarding the documentation, please check the user manual for the 
current stable version 
(http://argouml-downloads.tigris.org/nonav/argouml-0.24/argomanual-0.24.pdf) 
sections 10.6.3. New Sequence Diagram and 12.4.6. Sequence Diagram 
Specific Tools. A specific note is that to specify the base (Class, 
Interface, Actor, etc) for the ClassifierRoles you create you use the 
right click in the Base box in the property panel when the 
ClassifierRole is selected.
