Modeling Inner Classes

I was trying to model an inner class recently and had some questions:


   1. According to the documentation, you should be able to click on the
   container class and click the inner class button, and an inner class should
   be created.  But there is no inner class button.
   2. There is an "owned elements" pane, and I was able to create an inner
   class there.  It shows up in the explorer.  I add the inner class to the
   diagram but there's no connection between the two classes.
   3. If I add an composition (either type of composition will do), then I
   end up with a non-generic Vector ("who uses Vector's anymore?") of my inner
   class.
   4. If I add an aggregation I end up with the same results.

So my question is, what is the correct way of representing an inner class?
 I've looked through past conversations and the documentation, and I don't
see any hints about this.
