I was the author of this functionality for C++ and it isn't ready to use for "generat= e UML models out of a large existing C++ code base". Have you looked at the users manual: http://argouml-stats.tigris.org/documentation/manual-0.34/ch10s03.html#s3.r= ef.menu_import_sources The source code importation is similar for all the languages. You can always try. Note that it might be better if you try the import of the preprocessed C++ code.
