XAML Browser Alpha For Today's .Net Now Live; Zaml.com Kicked Off

  Mobiform Software Ltd. (a startup in Vancouver, BC)
has released an alpha build for its XAML browser that
runs on today's .Net (no need to wait for the Longhorn
2006 big bang).
    
  On its XAML page Mobiform writes:

  XAML (pronounced ‘ZAML’) is an XML based vector
markup specification produced by Microsoft. XAML is
one of the primary pillars in the next version of
Windows (Windows 2006 – Code Name ‘Longhorn’). If you
are familiar with W3C standards, XAML is like HTML,
XForms and SVG in one specification. 

  XAML has all of the capabilities of HTML, Flash and
PDF combined in a single XML based markup language.
XAML uses .NET as its code behind technology. MOBIFORM
has been involved in XML based graphics and .NET for
some time and has produced an SVG rendering engine
that uses .NET as its script or code behind language.
The similarities between XAML and MOBIFORM’s current
product offering is apparent, so it is a natural step
for MOBIFORM to produce an XAML rendering engine for
non-Longhorn operating systems, that uses .NET C#. 

  What MOBIFORM intends to produce is as follows: 

   1) An Internet Explorer Style XAML Browser that
animates, prints, and exports XAML documents from the
web or the local hard drive. 

   2) An XAML .NET User Control that can animate,
print and export XAML. The XAML View Control can be
used in your .NET applications or used in an HTML page
in Internet Explorer. 
    

  To underscore their commitment to XAML Mobiform also
kicked off Zaml.com - a website that bills itself as
the unofficial web site for XAML chartered to help you
find the latest news, blogs and info on XAML.

  Mobiform also setup a newsgroup/mailinglist about
XAML over at Yahoo! Groups (4 subscribers and
counting).
