MyXAML For .NET 2.0 Now Playing

  Marc Clifton reports that MyXaml for .NET 2.0 is now
available for download.

  Marc writes:

I've completed updating MyXaml to run under .NET 2.0,
as available in the Beta 1 release of Visual Studio
2005.

All the examples have been updated to work with .NET
2.0.  The browser demo had the most changes, as .NET
2.0 includes a WebBrowser control.  Otherwise, the
only thing that needed to be changed was to
specifically call out the .NET 2.0 version of
System.Windows.Forms, System.Data, etc., in the markup
with a fully qualified name.  I was pleasantly
surprised to see the vector graphics clock come up
without any problems, as with other assemblies that
were built with .NET 1.1.

The .NET 2.0 version installs as version 2.0.0.0 in
the GAC (I couldn't think of a better version number),
and will co-exist with your .NET 1.1 version.  I have
VS2003 and and VS2005 Beta 1 installed on the same
development machine without any problems.

The source code provided in the installation is the
same as the .NET 1.1 release except for the addition
of the "DOTNET20" conditional compilation symbol,
which is necessary to handle some of the minor
differences between 1.1 and 2.0.  The biggest problem
I've encountered is that some calls that used to
return a null on error now throw an exception,
requiring try/catch blocks.  The only other minor
problems involved obsoleted method calls, which have
been corrected.
