I have to agree that the entire opinion is baloney.  The reason they 
don't want to cooperate is it suits nobody's business interest to 
cooperate.  If, for instance, Java is so hard to 'recreate' then how 
come a handful of volunteers have come up with things like GCJ and GNU 
Classpath, to mention but a few.

Is Eclipse the next generation browser?  No, it's a DE for programmers.  
Does it use technologies that could make up the next generation 
browser?  Plausibly.  The momentum is with Mozilla though.  Mozilla is 
the next generation browser if it continues it's progress.
