document in firefox extensions

Hi all,

First, sorry if this is the wrong list. It's the best I could find, though.
I have a question about writing extensions for Firefox. I have a 
toolbarbutton and a function that is called when that button is clicked. 
Now, from within that handler, I have to use window.content.document to 
get to the dom of the page that is displayed. But there is also a 
'document' variable. What is the difference between the two? Thanks.
