Initial Comment:
There seems to be a minor inconsistency in the file config/config.php.example

/* The port your LDAP server listens on (no quotes). 389 is standard. */
// $ldapservers->SetValue($i,'server','port','389');

The comment seems to state that there should be no quotes around the port number, but in the example on the next line the port number is actually quoted. 

This is the case in phpldapadmin 1.1.0.6.
