Summary: No insertion of special characters
Initial Comment:
Hi friends,
Using windows ldap admin software like Softerra LDAP Administrator 2008.1 and others, i can create users with special characters like: "First name: José". But if ant special characters is inserted with de create user account of phpldapadmin the script shows the error "invalid dn syntax" (see the attach.). Special characters are widely used in Brazil, "José" is the most common name here. If its fixed, I appreciate! ;)
Thank you!!!

This is not a bug.
PLA is merely copying the value entered ("José") and using it in another
field, where that field doesnt like special chars. You need to manually
edit the field that gets populated to remove the special chars (that the
schema doesnt allow) before submitting it.

I found this problem in IE, where any diacritical characters in 'Display
name' and such would cause this issue. However, Firefox allows you to use
any diacritical characters. Note you should not use 'José' on the main dn
or the common name, but only on 'First name' and 'Display name'. First name
should really have two entries in this case, 'Jose' and 'José'.
Also note that in my experience IE is useless for phpLDAPadmin (and most
other things ;-)), unless you have no non-standard ascii characters at all.
Updating entries created in Firefox will also fail in IE, as soon as one of
the fields holds diacritical data. Use Firefox and you'll be OK.
