See if calling ldap_unbind($resource) somewhere fixes this. It might be
that even though the browser has rendered the page, fastcgi is caching
the resource, so on the next invocation (when a user clicks), the
connection is still "in use".

Also, it would be good if we can detect that you are running as fastcgi
- what is the output of php_sapi_name()?

Great, I dont use SASL, so I am dependant on PLA users who do to provide
the code - I'm happy to include it in PLA :)
