[phpldapadmin] Improving display format of objects

Hi all,

I currently have a setup that uses uniqueIndentifier as the rdn for most of my
objects. Since a uniqueIdentifier is pretty random, I've added displayNames to
most of the objects.

Using the tree_display_format configuration directive, I get these
displayNames in the tree display in phpldapadmin, making things actually quite
workable. However, I'd like to be able to use the displayName in more places
than just the tree display.

For example, in the "modify group members" command, I get two lists with full
dn's, which aren't much use to me. Instead, I'd like to show the displayName
there as well. This also holds for the "tree" used in entry_chooser.php.
Another example is the header on an entry display page (in the blue box at the
top).

Showing pretty names in the "uniqueMember" attribute when displaying a group
would also be nice, but since those input boxes allow direct editing of the
raw value, I guess that's not really possible. Perhaps the pretty value could
be shown above or below the input box, though.

Do you have any thoughts about how to make this happen? Are there
implementation issues or problems to be expected? How would one configure
this? Would this replace the tree_display_format configuration?

If we can sketch a picture of how this should work, I'm willing to implement
this.

Gr.

Matthijs
