Summary: Undefined variable: result (E_NOTICE)

Initial Comment:
There is a bug report in the Fedora distro, regardint hte undefined variables in some contexts.

(The problem is inspired by the fact that instead of the php config default "error_reportng = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE", some production systems (Fedora as well)
use "E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED" instead. As a result, all the E_NOTICE errors are reported).

The original bug reportis here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=662363
