Summary: language tags support
Initial Comment:
This continues bug 3353757 which is now closed.
Versions 1.1.0.x displayed language (base64-) encoded strings correctly. Even though attributes were not available (in add-attribute drop-down menus) to be added with language tags (e.g. cn;lang-el-gr), if such an attribute was available in the directory, phpldapadmin would display it correctly (in the proper language) - see attached file. Also, these strings could be edited and phpldapadmin would save them without problems.
However, versions 1.2.x do not even display such attribute values but throw out an error.
So, what has changed from versions 1.1.0.x to 1.2.x that causes errors in handling of language-tagged attributes? Can 1.2.x be (relatively easily) adapted to include at least the support which was available in versions 1.1.0.x ?
This is a highly wanted feature to enable upgrade from 1.1.0.7 to 1.2.x.
Nick

Message:
PLA cant support language tag attributes - it would require major work so
I've committed to get to display a warning message and ignore the RFC3866
tag.
I am planning to change PLA's backend for a new major version - and that
will include language tag support.

Note that I am aware of both Bug Report 3398104 and Feature Request
1182096.
Yet, although the latter has been stale ("Open") since 2005, versions
1.1.0.x were correctly handling language tags!
So, I have come to the conclusion that the problem should be easily
tackled in v. 1.2.x .
