By default Binarycloud needs mysql, but you can prevent this if you  
tell the perm module of binarycloud to ignore the database. This can  
be done by setting

<property id="ignore_db" type="boolean">true</property>

in auth.conf.xml in your workspace conf directory...

Obviously if you want to play with Auth you would need to install  
mysql and enable this...
