question about boostbook

I've been studying boost book, and other xml creatures like docbook and I 
have a couple of questions.

Boostbook includes a list of tags and corresponding attributes.  Is it 
intended that these be in addition to the Docbook set of tags and attributes 
or is it intended that only these tags/attributes be used?
