Draw a rectangle to make sure the problem is not text-only. It might also show more clearly if the skew is caused by a wrong stride factor. Also useful is to draw solid red, green, blue rectangles, to check for the channels being in the wrong order. Or draw the text "red" in red, etc, to make sure the colors are not confused.
