According to <http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/06/08/microsoft_announces_csharp_mac_dev_for_visual_studio/>, Skia “is a better and more robust solution than .NET's System.Drawing graphics API, said de Icaza”. That surprises me just a bit. Skia is the underlying 2D graphics engine used on Android, which I have used to do a few things. It seems roughly comparable to Cairo in most ways, though it has a few extra effects available <https://skia.org/user/api/skpaint>.
