No, actually *good* distros - they fix up crap coming from the various
upstreams (which often even don't care about clean build process) and
make sure that everything's rebuilt reliably.

Given the hassles we had w/ autofool in the last decades, never trusting
anything autogenerated and always rebuild from scratch, in isolated
environments, is the best one can do (except rewriting the build scripts
completely)
