Help with Differentiation

I am attempting to use this as hinted in the manual.

Ideally I would like to be able to have a vector of functions and a 
vector of differentials and generate the matrix of all the 
differentials.  One problem is that it seems that the return type of 

Simplify(Diff(f,x))

will be different for each expression.

Have I missed something?

Then I will want to get numerical values for particular cases, so I 
will need to add a value to the symbol.  I have done that, but don't 
have any example how then to evaluate the expressions.
