suse x86_64 install problem with ffcall

I'm trying to install the GNUstep tools onto a new install of SuSE  
10.1 x86_64

when I try to install the "ffcall-1.10" I get an error:
	libtool:  install: `libcallback.la` is not a valid libtool archive

I'm not sure how to correct this.
