We are pleased to announce that ICU Version 2.8 
(http://oss.software.ibm.com/icu/) is now available.

The ICU release 2.8 is available on our public web sites,

Features of this reference release will include:
     * Extended locale ID support
     * Multiple calendars support
     * Historical timezones support
     * 64 bit number formatting
     * Support for UCA 4.0 (since ICU 2.6.1)
     * Many other updates and enhacements
     * Various bug fixes
