CVS works for me. I have been able to do a CVS checkout and CVS update
from two different non-IBM machines, and one of them was through anoncvs.
Here is an example from this morning.

bash-2.05$ export
CVSROOT=:pserver:[email protected]:/usr/cvs/icu
bash-2.05$ cvs login
Logging in to :pserver:[email protected]:2401/usr/cvs/icu
CVS password:
cvs login: warning: failed to open /home/cscstd/efgh/grhoten/.cvspass for
reading: No such file or directory
bash-2.05$ cvs checkout icu/as_is
cvs server: Updating icu/as_is
cvs server: Updating icu/as_is/codewarrior
cvs server: Updating icu/as_is/codewarrior/mac
cvs server: Updating icu/as_is/os390
U icu/as_is/os390/unpax-icu.sh
cvs server: Updating icu/as_is/os400
U icu/as_is/os400/configure
U icu/as_is/os400/unpax-icu.sh
cvs server: Updating icu/as_is/win32

Thanks for the answer.

I tried again with this string:

1. export of CVSROOT

2. login without problems with password anoncvs

3. changed cvs root from the string with port to the string without port

4. "cvs -t up" gives the following output

 -> main loop with
CVSROOT=:pserver:[email protected]:/usr/cvs/icu
 -> Connecting to oss.software.ibm.com(129.33.28.100):2401

I don't see network activity and have to stop the process by ctrl + c

Checkout with Cervisia is also not working.

Any idea what to try next?
