compiling libchipcard2 not possible

Hy there,
i've got a problem to compile libchipcard2. I use a 64 Bit System and when i 
use make then i get the error msg. "/usr/lib/libusb.so: could not read 
symbols: File in wrong format.
My call for configure is ./configure --libdir=/usr/lib64. 

Someone a idea what i make wrong?

I have suse 9.3, and the driver libchipcard from  the dvd dosen't work. When i 
will start the chipcardd it returned the errormsg. libpcsclite.so.0 "Kann die  
Shard-Object-Daatei nicht öffnen" Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden". I 
set in all folders (/lib, /usr/lib/, /usr/local/lib) a symbolic link to the 
64 lib folders.
