This is correct; while the software I write for my employer does not use TAI, we use a similar timescale of our own devising. So it is not unusual for applications that need to know about time to use a timescale without leapseconds internally. So there is other software out there. It's too hard to write decent timing software using the ntp/unix timescale - all the discontinuities around leap seconds make the code prone to errors. Regards Ben
