It sounds like your DEF files are out of sync with the source. Unless you specifically need 5.3.2, I'd suggest using 5.4.0 from http://www.w3.org/Library/Distribution/w3c-libwww-5.4.0.zip - I've built this version on Windows using MSVC++ 6, and IIRC it pretty much "just worked" using the libwww/windows/world.dsw workspace file included in this ZIP.
