I use autoconf 2.13 and automake 1.4-p6. File configure.in seems
to be incompatible with latest version of autoconf.

tar xfz mtl-2.1.2-22.tar.gz
patch -p0 < mtl-2.1.2-22-sun.patch
cd mtl-2.1.2-22
autoconf
automake -a
./configure
make

Please note that Sun Studio 11 C++ and forthcoming patch for Sun Studio 10 C++
are able to compile MTL only.
