Thanks for the very quick response!  I am 100% for not recreating the 
wheel, so I'll see if I can apply these patches and test with my own 
smart card.

I noticed these threads are dated... Is this routine? I noticed a 
concern about test cases.  Understandably hardware based things might be 
more of a challenge, but I suppose it'd be possible to write a driver 
that creates simulated smart card reader responses.
