Setting post variables

Hi Joshua,

Remember your suggestion to set query params using the php protocol?

<param name="php:$_POST['from_date']" type="text"/>

Now I need to set the variable in the case that nothing is currently
selected. Is it possible to set the post variable from the sitemap? I'm
checking out Path and there doesn't seem to be any set function.
