The release version does omit-frameptr and fastmath. The resulting libraries certainly differ in size, I checked. The .a and .so files are smaller. If you want smaller user app binaries as well, I think you can use 'strip' on them. Also, make sure your configure script is up to date by running ./autogen.sh Another point --enabled-demos=no or --disable-demos also does not seem to > have > any effect...
