Hi,

Wow - that's pretty bizarre. I was able to reproduce the problem here
using the "Generic Software" device on Windows XP. I've not encountered
this issue before - so I think it might be related to the kind of audio
file you are playing - it looks quite manufactured rather than sampled from
the real world. It could be an issue with the sample-rate conversion or
perhaps something that is not initialized correctly inside OpenAL. I'll
need to look into this further.

So i'm running into this weird problem with OpenAL on Windows. The first
time i call alSourcePlay, the audio sounds a little different. Subsequent
calls to the same source work fine. I suppose it could be related to
popping or clicking, but it's more subtle.

I'm currently using stb_vorbis to decode an ogg file, but i've tried this
with wav files and ALUT. I've also tried different sound files. Same thing.

I did try the alutHelloWorldBuffer function, and that seems to play fine. I
wonder if different sample rates / settings affect this problem
differently.

This problem does not occur under Ubuntu 9.10. I've tried Windows 7 and XP
with the same results. I'm using the latest SDK / bins.

I created a test project if anyone else wants to give it a go:
http://www.cs.utah.edu/~witkowsk/files/audtest.zip

If you go into the working directory and run audtest.exe, 3 sounds will
play. The first one sounds kind of like a plastic bat, the next 2 play just
fine.

Anyone else run into this?
