invalid use of ‘ALvoid’

Hello all,

I am pretty new to OpenAL and C++ so I'm going through lesson 1 (the OS X
version) on DevMaster.net but I am having some trouble getting it to compile
and I'm hoping someone can give me a few pointers.

So a bit of detail.

I am using OS X (snow leopard) and have tried compiling the tutorial with
g++ and via Xcode and I'm getting the following errors which look like the
compiler is having trouble with OpenAL headers:
(compiled with g++)

In file included from main.cpp:9:
/Library/Frameworks/OpenAL.
framework/Versions/A/Headers/al.h:84: error: ‘<anonymous>’ has incomplete
type
/Library/Frameworks/OpenAL.framework/Versions/A/Headers/al.h:84: error:
invalid use of ‘ALvoid’
In file included from main.cpp:10:
/Library/Frameworks/OpenAL.framework/Versions/A/Headers/alc.h:43: error:

/Library/Frameworks/OpenAL.framework/Versions/A/Headers/alc.h:43: error:
invalid use of ‘ALCvoid’
In file included from main.cpp:11:
/Library/Frameworks/OpenAL.framework/Versions/A/Headers/alut.h:36: error:

/Library/Frameworks/OpenAL.framework/Versions/A/Headers/al.h: In function

/Library/Frameworks/OpenAL.framework/Versions/A/Headers/al.h:84: error: too
few arguments to function ‘ALenum alGetError(<type error>)’
main.cpp:154: error: at this point in file

I have trawled through the forums and have seen others with similar problems
and they suggested replacing all (except the first) instances of 'ALVoid'
with 'Void' I was hoping someone could confirm that's a good way to go
before I started messing around with headers.

Any suggestions are very welcome indeed.

Many thanks

Iain Laird
