You are free to use OpenAL in your commercial application - you don't even
need to let the user install OpenAL - although that is the only way to
guarantee that OpenAL will be installed on the target machine, so it is a
very good idea.

The Creative Labs OpenAL installer includes some license text that should
be included as part of any existing EULA that you may have.

I'm not exactly clear on what effect presets you have converted from the
eax-util.h file and into what format - but I don't see this as being a
problem.  The presets are just a set of numbers to control a particular
effect.   A number of the reverb presets are based on the IASIG's I3DL2
guidelines ( http://www.iasig.org/pubs/3dl2v1a.pdf ) which is publicly
available anyway.

Hi !


I've got a question concerning licensing, I'd like to use openal as part of
a commercial application, from what I've read that shouldn't pose a problem
as long as i let the user install openal. Do I have to copy some disclaimer
into the source ? And if the commercial application allows users to use
this application as some kind of dll, do they also need to copy that
disclaimer into their source code, or if they use a EAX preset from the
EAX-utils.h file ?


The other question would be :


I've create a small tool which converts the EAX presets from the
EAX-utils.h file to EFX (not EFX EAX) presets (using a filter and a lowpass
for each effect), which sound nearly exactly the same (didn't notice any
larger differnce) as the EAX presets converted to EFX EAX presets using
ConvertReverbParameters in "Generic Software" mode. May I offer these
converted presets as presets with the same name so that users may use them
to access and use my commercial application (which is some kind of dll) ?


Or do I need to change the names of them ?


Or am I not even allowed to convert the presets and offer them ?
