This is closer to the system I have in mind, where the spatial sounds are
moved between many (4 or 5) speakers. I am working with a racing simulator
which uses OpenAL to map sounds relative to player, but at present only
does stereo output.

I guess ideally the openal->amp connection is just working, however I
suspect that there is also some effort to get the card's driver configured
for 4 or 5 analogue output or a multichannel digital output.
