Open Al Soft: my base goes missing?

Hi,
So, when HRTF is enabled, my base goes missing as it were--nothing
has good base anymore. Is this normal? Can I somehow get it back? I'm
considering fiddling with equalizers, but this seems like it'd start
negating the point of HRTF, and I'm not sure how to make it work
reasonably as, to my understanding, you'd still hear the dry path.
Any advice?
