You can stop these "me too"s , they have no influence whatsoever.

I am definitely _not_ adding any feature which will benefit only
commercial packages.

If someone wants to see something like this you better start
demonstrating the need for each of the changes you want by providing a
freely available and freely distributable implementation of a tool using
the additional functionality.
