And in theory it shouldn't be necessary since if always the correct libc
would be used there is no way to block it (legally).  But there are old
libc, statically linked apps, and broken code, so we have to play safe.

I've made an appropriate change.  The pthread_sigmask() change isn't
needed and the other code is a bit heavy.
