As for porting: just forget everything which is LT specific and pick up
the POSIX standard.

I don't know about any document about specific optimizations.  Heck,
I've asked for experience reports and didn't even get a single reply
based on that.  Seems nobody is willing to share anything like that and
I certainly didn't have any time writing up anything like this.
