Regarding the UAS hearbeat signals, the user agent
actually keeps communicating with the SIP server by
means sending "REGISTER" messages and keeps renewing
the registration. Some user agents actially provide a
configuration option to set how often this
registration renewal communication needs to take
place. Does it make any sence in your scenario?
