Hi Folks, I'm kind of confused between all these different media gateway control protocols. GCP version 1 (RFC 3525) says it is ITU-T H.248 amendment 1 - (see Abstract, second para, Last line). Megaco (RFC 3015) says (Abstract first para, last line) - is common text with ITU-T Recommendation H.248 MGCP (RFC 3435) says RFC 3015 is the standards based way to meet the needs of what MGCP is based to acheive.. then why MGCP?? so GCP == Megaco == H.248 ! = MGCP ? Now in Vocal system what happens w.r.t Media gateway control, is it not applicable? Now when we say VOCAL supports SIP to MGCP translation, does it mean if you had a Media Gateway doing MGCP then it can be controlled using such a translation function? If GCP/Megaco/H.248 is the standard way then why no SIP to Megaco translation? Someone please clarify.
