Custom tooltip. Is there an event I can detect and show my own tooltip?

I need to display some additional info (a mini graph) instead of a tooltip 
at certain times.

I'm hoping there is an event that I can detect and show this window, but 
I'm having trouble finding anything.

Does anyone know if I can do this easily?
