I get the impression that it is being linked statically.  What options
are you using for premake?  It should be something like (for premake
1.2):

   premake --target gnu --with-shared

Without the --with-shared flag, I get an identical ldd output for
libwx-c.so.  However, since I'm still able to run the samples when
compiled as a static library, my guess is that your static compile of
wxGTK is out-of-date or something (lets hope.)
