Indeed, I tried to follow your advice and installed mono from CVS.

I installed the following Debain packages: libwxbase2.4 libwxbase2.4-dev
libwxgtk2.4 libwxgtk2.4-contrib libwxgtk2.4-dev

gcc version is 2.95.4
