DllNotFoundException when trying to run Samples

I've built/installed gtk+-2.4.0, wxGTK-2.5.1 and then wx.NET-0.4. Everything
builds OK but when I try to run the wx.NET samples I get the exception
System.DllNotFoundException: wx-c:

$ mono wizard.exe
Unhandled Exception: System.DllNotFoundException: wx-c
in <0x00053> (wrapper managed-to-native) wx.App:wxApp_ctor ()
in <0x00014> wx.App:.ctor ()
in <0x0000a> wx.Samples.MyApp:.ctor ()
in <0x00021> wx.Samples.MyApp:Main ()

In that same directory libwx-c.so and wx.NET.dll exist. I even set MONO_PATH
and LD_LIBRARY_PATH to contain this directory just in case "." is not
searched.

wxGTK was built with:

./configure \
        --enable-unicode \
        --enable-debug \
        --with-gtk \
        --enable-gtk2 \
        --enable-stc \
        --enable-xrc

wx.NET was built with:

premake --dotnet mono --with-shared --enable-stc --enable-xrc --target
gnu --enable-gtk2

Thanks,
-Mike
